Gordon Cowans’ Under 21 side hosted Burnley on Monday at Bodymoor Heath in a friendly.

I’ve left this a couple of days as I was hoping the official site would cover the game and give us full team details but unless anything follows this, I’ve seen nothing on the usual club outlets – so maybe it was hush hush?

Either way if I don’t do it now I’ll never remember.

Anyway, Sid’s side brought Burnley’s Development Squad’s nine game unbeaten run to an end over the 90 minutes with the two one victory and Burnley’s Coverage of the game – match report – describes our selection as being very strong.

They don’t however give ‘full’ team details of their own but our goals came from Jack Grealish and Leandro Bacuna, both from set pieces and it did give us a two goal lead at the time before they clawed one back.

Others like Philipe Senderos, Joe Cole, Kieran Richardson, Jores Okore, Adama Traore, Tiago Ilori and Libor Kozak are mentioned – as is Benjamin Siegrist.

If hush hush then presumably the remaining one player and our subs are top secret – or maybe I’m just reading way too much into this and should return to looking at aliens…oh crap I’m turning into Nigel Farage!

As said the match report is in the link above and having channelled Hercule Poirot, here are the team sheets.

Villa:

Siegrist, Bacuna, Senderos, Okore, Ilori, Richardson, Traore, Grealish, Cole, Kozak.

Goals – Grealish (free kick), Bacuna (pen from a Grealish won penalty).

Burnley:

Aghayere, Birch, Hobson, Whitmore, Hendrie, Frost, Hewitt, Smith, Trialist (Nugent 12 (Norvock 86), Metz (Bianga 36), Wood.
