Aston Villa’s Under 23 side are in Premier League Cup action later this evening.

Kevin MacDonald’s young charges have headed to Swansea City’s Liberty Stadium for tonight’s Cup Final and the action gets underway at 7pm.

Having breezed through the Group Stage of the competition, scoring more goals than any other team this year, our route to the Final saw us beat PL2 champions Blackburn Rovers, before taking extra time victories over both Middlesbrough and Leicester City.

Swansea come into the game looking to make history as they can win back-to-back titles having lifted the prize last season.

The tie tonight should certainly be a cracker as we look to grab silverware before turning our attention to the Play-Off Final with promotion also on the cards for our next generation this season.

For anyone who happens to be around Swansea, entry at the gate is free for the game and Aston Villa will be providing coverage on their Twitter site.

Colin Calderwood had words of praise for the sides’ achievement so far this season.

“Their resistance to pressure and determination to win games lately has been impressive. They’ve come from behind and gone to extra-time on a couple of occasions and come out on top. They’re good attributes to have. They have the full support of the management team and know that we’ll all be watching. They’re a great group of players and a credit to their coaches Kevin MacDonald and Mark Delaney. We wish them all the best.”

The boys can take some historical motivation into the game as well.
