Kevin MacDonald’s Under 23 side lost out on the opportunity to top our Premier League 2 table as we came up against experienced opposition from Brighton yesterday.

Heading to their Amex sponsored training ground for the game, second half goals from Tyler Forbes, James Tilley and Henrik Bjordal sealed our fate but it’s worth noting that their side included the experienced trio of Liam Rosenior, Uwe Huenemeier and Sam Baldock and from reading both match reports that certainly aided them in their cause.

Victory would’ve seen us return to the top of the table, and it ends our four game winning streak, so simply put, time to start another one.

It was the first game without regular captain Easah Suliman and Callum O’Hare was also missing.

Villa:

Sarkic, Borg, Bedeau, Finnerty, Clark, Blackett-Taylor, Doyle-Hayes, Clarke, Abdo, Prosser, Hepburn-Murphy.

Subs:

Johansson, Walker, Brunt, Ramsey, Knibbs.

Brighton:

Sanchez, Rosenior, Huenemeier, Dallison, Cox, Sanders, Moore, Forbes (Tilley 62), Baldock, Alzate (Bjordal 85), Connolly.

Subs not used:

Collings (GK), Cochrane, J.Davies.

Goals – Forbes (61), Tilley (67), Bjordal (90+5).

As ever, if I can find substitute details for Villa I’ll update.

Next up for us is a Premier League Cup clash against Ipswich Town as we look to make the knockout stages.
