Aston Villa’s Under 23 side took one step closer to Premier League Cup success this season with last night’s two one victory over Middlesbrough.

A Ben Liddle penalty for the hosts at Heritage Park gave them the advantage 15 minutes into the first half, but Rushian Hepburn-Murphy sent the game into injury time with a 95th minute leveller.

Having scored in the last minute of regulation time, he went one better and scored in the last minute of first half extra time to give us the lead. Hopes of a hattrick, in the same manner, didn’t come to pass, but his brace was enough for victory.

Villa are through to the Semi Finals of the competition and with the draw still to be made (Thursday), we could face Leicester City, Sheffield United or Swansea City in the final four.

The game did see 14 yellow cards for some bizarre reason and a certain Mark Delaney was in charge for this tie.
