Aston Villa’s Under 23 side made it six straight wins with victory over Stoke City on Monday evening.

Kevin MacDonald’s side made the trip to Clayton Wood for the latest Premier League 2 game, and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy scored a brace with Callum O’Hare putting his name on the scoresheet as well.

The hosts did score via Tyrese Campbell but it was nothing more than a consolation on the day as we wrapped up the three one win.

Aston Villa now sit four points off top spot in the Premier League 2 Division 2 table, but before the end of the 2017/18 campaign we do pay a visit to Blackburn Rovers who currently top the pile, so it’s very much all to play for if we can keep this run of form going.

The game would’ve been great for confidence as despite a normal young look to our selection, Stoke did include Saido Berahino, Kevin Wimmer and a certain Mr Stephen Ireland and based on chances the margin of victory could’ve been slightly greater.

Stoke:

Bursik, Pemberton, McJannet, Sorensen, Forrester, Wimmer, Shenton, Ireland (Twyford 46), Campbell, Berahino (Greenidge 63), Szereto (Hill 73).

Subs:

Da Silva, Allen.

Goals – Campbell (45).

Villa:

Sarkic, Clark, Borg (Bazeley 74), Finnerty, Bedeau, Clarke, Prosser, Doyle-Hayes (Mooney 55), Hepburn-Murphy (Abdo 89), O’Hare, Cox.

Subs:

Watkins, Lyden.

Hepburn-Murphy (pen 26, 36), O’Hare (34).

Following yet another good showing from RHM and O’Hare calls have only intensified for them to get a first team run out before the end of the campaign.
