Kevin MacDonald’s Under 23 side are in Premier League Cup action later this evening.

We head to Leicester City’s King Power Stadium for the semi-final affair tonight and the match kicks off at 7pm. Tickets on the gate are £3 adult and £1 concessions.

Victory for our young changes would see them through to the Final of the competition and having secured our Play-Off spot for Division 2 promotion and now facing Reading at Villa Park in that semi-final, it could well be a great season at Under 23 level as well.

With Callum O’Hare missing out on Monday’s defeat to Norwich City, it transpires he was given a break having been winded in the Newcastle United clash last Friday but he’s expected to be back. A number of changes were made for Norwich but the core of the group – Matija Sarkic, Jacob Bedeau, Jordan Lyden, Jake Doyle-Hayes and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy – are all expected to take their starting berths.

Leicester are in the Premier League 2 Division 1 set up and we’ll hope to be joining them next year. Their campaign saw them take it to the final day before they missed out to Champions Arsenal, so they won’t be pushovers.

Speaking to the Official Site first team manager Steve Bruce was full of praise for their exploits this year and you would expect him to be watching on.

“The club have an excellent sprinkling of talent in the U23s squad. They’ve got a big game tonight at Leicester and on Tuesday at Villa Park against Reading. Let’s hope they can progress because they’ve had a great season so far. If they can get to the next level, Premier League 2 Division 1, that would be terrific. Good luck to them.”
