This plank appears to be an anti-Yank?

The president of Uefa Michael Platini has once again stuck his nose where it is not really required and attacked the foreign ownership of English clubs.

Talking to Sky Sports News, the Frenchman said: ‘I can’t understand how so many English clubs are owned by foreign people. I think we can do something. I don’t know why Americans come to buy some clubs. You need your identity. I can’t understand why some English clubs are owned by Americans because they do not come for the beauty of the game, for the romance of the football in England. They come because they want to make money. We need to defend that.’

Adding, ‘If you have Manchester against Liverpool it is part of the population of the cities. But now if you have an owner from America against an owner from Russia, I don’t like it.’

So come on then Platini, with the money swimming in football, what exactly are you going to do about big money owners? Instead of sniping, tell us your plan? Villa had an English owner for many years, the club still lost its identity. For me I couldn’t care less where the owners come from, as long as their intentions are good. I dislike the playboy at Chelsea, I understand why the Manchester United fans dislike their owner who levied the purchase with massive debt and the Manchester City owner does seem ….. I’ll leave it there for fear of legal action or a human rights attack against me! Only time will tell what the foreign owners do at West Ham and Liverpool, but from what I can see so far, Randy has nothing but the best interests of Villa at heart, if he wanted to make big bucks, I wouldn’t think football was the wisest of investments, or funding player buys from his own pocket? Looks like he is up for the challenge of re-establishing our identity to me.

We’ve had some very dodgy British owners of clubs over the years, where exactly is the game under more threat with foreign investors? Fair enough there is much too much money in football and the best thing that could happen would be a player wage cap, that might help address the burgeoning disparity between the pampered play boys in the Premiership and the fans who pay their hard earnt money to watch them! Maybe he’d be better addressing the players wages and looking to introduce some decent technology to assist referees!!

  • Jonah that kind of talk is just racist. He may be ugly, smelling of garlic, and have a wife with a moustache, but where he comes from is irrelevant.

  • Owner from America and an owner from Russia, and he doesn’t like it ? what the **** has it got to do with him…..he’s French….so therefore insignificant in this world of ours…..wheres George Bush when you need him ? bomb the French b***ard in his newly re-furbed UEFA office !! stop wasting cruise missiles on Iraq !!

  • And while you’re at it George, any chance of signing till January, help the General out at RB ?

  • And Hoss, you are absolutely spot on…..where he comes from is irrelevant……(France) vavavoom my a**e…..more like nanamoon !!

  • In an ideal world, the owner of every club would be from the country of that club. In the ideal world…

  • In an Ideal World the fans would own the Club well perhaps not
I think we have the best thing in Randy.
I judge the man & not where he is from.
I cannot believe the great things he has done so far. The man done more for the Club in 20months than previous owners did in 20 years

  • Foreign ownership means nothing. PLC’s shares can be bought by anyone including garlic loving french so where’s the difference?

  • Typical Uefa and its presidents. Getting involved yet again with crap that shouldn’t concern them. Why didn’t they speak up when we had that geriatric old ***** in charge, saying that clubs shouldn’t be ruled by geriatric old *****s.

  • I agree with FatKev, you only have to think back to the Ellis era in early August 2006 and want to throw up. Randy has been magnificent in his achievements so far. Now all we need is two RB’s by midnight tonight and the world will be wonderful, for a little while anyway.
