Our last poll asked, following yet another press round of links to Wigan’s Emile Heskey, what sort of signing you think he would be.

35% voted an ok signing and 32% voted it would be a step backwards.

13% labelled the link totally average and 10% refused to believe the link and said he would be awful.

That left 10% saying a great signing.

Interestingly some reports this week have suggested we might try to set up a swap deal (this is press talk remember, no facts at all as far as I can see!) with Marlon Harewood. That would probably make more sense, especially for the Hare who needs regular first team football and won’t get it at Villa….(would he get it at Wigan mind you?)

Also with today’s link – report to follow – to Michael Owen maybe the signing of Heskey would then make sense?!

Our new poll asks what you think of the Michael Owen link.

  • I voted OK, i dont think he would set the world alight but he would bring out the best in Gabby and push Carew for a place. And we all know how highly he is regarded by fellow professionals and managers, Owen claims him to be the best strike partner he ever had. Emile dont score many goals but his partners seem to improve their record when he is around. Look at England, is coincidence that Rooney is on the best form of his career so far alongside this man? I think not.

  • When Carew is unfit we have no natural replacement, and have to change our style of play. Heskey would be perfect. You would be able to ‘rotate properly’ keeping them both fresh without changing the pattern of play. With Gabby and Michael Owen doing the same to play ‘off the big man’ we would be a serious force with Jimmy and Ashley in wide areas.

  • krfeskivilla you are failing to take into account that we could always use NRC up front when Carew is off and shove Friedel into Midfield with Ash in goal!

  • Just think that he won’t leave Brucie, one is a potato head and the other is a sack of spuds. They are birds of a feather

  • Why though would we want to sign another injury prone centre-forward? We need a striker who can provide goals, and give us variation and options.

  • Steff the Villan, come on, you shouldn’t jest like that. You’re probably closer to the truth than you’ll ever know.
