Scotland were certainly rather embarrassing in the week as they lost to Kazakhstan 3-0 in the opening EURO 2020 qualifier in their group in Astana.

A far from convincing performance you could say, then, and they will be looking to bounce back against San Marino who – suddenly – become a tough proposition. Okay perhaps not.

Anyway, John McGinn featured in the game for the Scots and some international onlookers were quick to hammer the midfielder for his performance.

That, though, was unfair as he was simply one of eleven players in a system that didn’t work under a manager that is quickly losing his grip already.

Certainly, McGinn has proven himself to be a class option for us this season and to see him get such a pasting says more about the players around him than anything else.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t have a negative impact on things going into the final few weeks of our season, then, as we need him at his best.
