United Hold On As Villa Disappoint Again – Match Stats

|

Following on from our fantastic and professional victory over Leeds United our midweek clash with Sheffield United was set to be another decent battle.

United’s results have fallen off a cliff this season, but they still aren’t a side that rolls over for anyone and clearly head coach Dean Smith was pleased with what he saw in our last match, as he named an unchanged side.

We also looked like we’d picked up where we left off in the last game, and arguably should’ve been ahead prior to the 15 minute mark but sadly John McGinn wasn’t quite Super enough. We definitely should’ve been ahead by minute 25 as Ollie Watkins was taken out in the box, but with VAR having a night off, predictably the referee didn’t see it that way.

It was surely only a matter of time, or was it going to be one of those nights?

Some things never change, it was another one of those nights and having fallen asleep in defence, they nipped in to open the scoring even though we were largely in charge of the game. Further chances went begging and even when United were reduced to ten men just ahead of the hour mark, we just couldn’t make our control count and we didn’t test their goalkeeper anywhere near as often as we should’ve done.

Disappointing – no other way of describing it.

Manchester United beat us to the inaugural Prem title in 1992/93, but what was the score when we travelled to Old Trafford?

Shocking result tonight can’t beat the rock bottom team with 10 men, sorry but thats not acceptable look at the stats. 72% possession 15 shots. 7 corners no goals, we can forget Europe just lucky that we have points on the board. Send Barclay back to Chelsea he’s not up to it ,we need to break the Bank for Abrahams we need someone to put the ball in the back of the net, we’re expecting miles too much from Watkins he needs help. Worried about the Wolves game now this must have given them confidence let’s be honest we couldn’t hit a barn door.
Very disappointed with this it’s clearly obvious that we need Jack back and the sooner the better.
