Manager Steve Bruce has said he believes that Aston Villa’s squad is ‘far better and far stronger’ than we were last season as we look to mount a successful and serious promotion push from the Championship back to the Premier League.

Speaking to the Official Site in his now usual Monday morning briefing about things claret and blue, Bruce explained that with the strength of the group, he was confident we could mount a serious push for promotion this year and achieve the aim that he was set when coming to B6 in the first place.

With the Championship kick off now a week away, well less than, with Hull City up on Saturday, Bruce explained.

‘I like our balance. The lads we have brought in will certainly improve us with our experience. We look far better, far stronger and better equipped in terms of the experience we`ve got. Whelan, Elmohamady and Terry bring great experience and know-how.’

Bruce went on to say.

‘I do feel you need that to play for this club and they will handle it because they have played in the Premier League before many times. I`m very confident they will perform under pressure – like you have to playing for this club.’

Whilst he wouldn’t be drawn on a potential starting eleven for the game, Bruce did say that the line up against Watford did offer up some clues and fans shouldn’t expect too much difference.

‘I`ve got an idea. You won`t be far away with what we had against Watford.’

That’s certainly get some tongues wagging given both the sides we started with and then ended with.
