Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness has said all the hard questions are being asked and he has made sure all leave has been cancelled for all involved. Doris the tea lady is said to be furious!

He goes on to say that “together we must turn it round, everyone knows the reality.”

I must admit, I would quite like the owner (without his rather daft cryptic tweets) and the CEO to go further and give the manager – if it is true he is staying – their vote of confidence.

I`m told that some fans were talking to Keith at the Brentford game and he confirmed there won`t be any (or much?) money in January due to the financial fair play rules and that Bruce will be given the season.

The price for not gaining promotion this season will be massive though, not sure everyone realises. No more parachute money will mean we will struggle even more to fit within the FFP rules and one would fear that a fair few more ‘normal` staff will also have to be cut.

We can but hope that Steve turns this around very quickly, starting v Boro on Saturday and then at our next home game v Bristol City. We`ve failed this far to beat anyone in the top six. That now has to change and change immediately.

If not?

Well, Xia doesn`t have much of a track record (or much experience… I have no idea if he has much money to be honest) but he did remove RDM after a very (very) short tenure.

Such unhappy times… again.

  • no chance of any points from next two games,,, whelan will make sure of that,,,

    bruce will be gone then,,,,

  • Not quite sure what cancelling leave will do to our style of football, mistakes made on the pitch and our terrible record in the transfer market, sounds like detention ? Sorry think Bruce has had long enough and although we have more stability we will scr

  • “Potentially” unhappy times again, I suggest, JF! 😀 … In a few months we could see this as being just a blip in the season.

  • Eddy1 – I think the point is that Bruce sees that the mistakes and lack of relaxed play are symptoms of the pressure and expectation that the players are under. Hence the need to get the players to knuckle down more to fix their concentration on the targe

  • Think the line up against Boro will tell us if he has taken anything onboard and change it, or will he remain stubborn. All the money in the world is not going put a good team together,a good manager does that, one day we might get one.

  • Another blip… point taken maybe John but with the style of play this and last season (and I’m not saying it has been good for 7 or 8 seasons before either btw!) do you have confidence in that? We should be securely in the top six in my humble.

  • What exactly is the punishment for falling out of ffp in the championship?. If it’s just monetary penalties then go all out for Gayle cause if we stay here another year, I can honestly say that getting back will be a mountain. What I like about Dr x is

  • Liverpool just signed van. 75 mil and he arrives Jan 1st, what’s so complex. Dr x put 16 mil down for Gayle. 1st jan. Get the deal done tmrw. Or we going to be a leeds/forest

  • Maybe Dwight Gayle doesn’t want to drop down a division to a mediocre Championship club with a reputation for making a pig’s ear out of a silk purse – Hourihane, Hogan, Lansbury all look a whole lot worse since they signed for us.

  • I’d also like to know just who is on leave that would make a difference to our season? Games come thick and fast over the winter period, so I can’t imagine any playing or coaching staff being given any time off unless there is an international break, and

  • Ali, the info is freely available about FFP. For a start it’s financial implications and fines, Hull from memory escaped by their teeth in getting promotion, QPR didn’t and appealed and got slapped with something like £50m. Worse are transfer embargos a

  • And I’ll add, this is why some were against the s*** or bust approach on relegation, we needed to rebuild from the ground up and not think we’re Aston Villa we deserve to be top flight because our slide had been going on for so long. We’ve tried for the

  • Mike – We are not going up with this Manager in charge, his tactics, style of play and inability to recognise his mistakes has been very worrying for some time. I was hoping we would see some improvement in our play but the opposite is happening and we ar

  • Agree it’s completely underwhelming Mick, but it’s on Brucie’s head to solve. I don’t see him being canned owing to our position as we’re in the mix but we are in dire need of improvements in terms of a style of play, using players to their strengths and
