With confirmation of Aston Villa fullback Matty Cash’s switch of international allegiance from England to Poland well known by fans, with the next pointless interruption break now on the cards again, seeing him named in their squad is probably the least surprising news of the week.

The 24-year-old former Nottingham Forest Academy graduate has quickly worked his way into a bit of a fan favourite, although it’s clear there’s still plenty he can work and improve upon, but after the utter shambles that was the West Ham United clash, he was one of very few players who came out of the defeat with some credit, and Polish fans looking in will likely have been quite impressed.

He finds himself in head coach Paulo Sousa’s squad for the upcoming November World Cup qualifiers against Andorra (Friday, November 12) and Hungary (Monday, November 15) and Poland are well on track to secure a Play-Off spot for the Qatar shambles, and could, in fact, still finish above England.

Congrats Matty, but again, not exactly a surprise.
