Villa Defender Faces Fight

Danish international Martin Laursen says he knows he’ll have a fight on his hands to re-claim his place when he returns once again from injury.

The defender, who is currently out with ligament damage having returned from a season long absence due to a career threatening knee injury, said:

‘It’s not going to be easy to get a regular place when I’m fit again. Olof and Liam have looked good all season and Gary Cahill is also back now. He was really good when he broke into the side last season, so it’s fair to say the manager has a few positive problems at the back.’

Adding, on the official site: ‘When things are going in the right direction, why change the team? My main priority is to get again as soon as possible and do my best whenever I’m in the team. Then, hopefully I will play more games. It’s what you do on the pitch that matters. It’s worth nothing to say I was bought from AC Milan for a lot of money if I don’t perform well.’

Competition for places at Villa? Whatever next!?!
