Martin Laursen is quoted in the Daily Mail today saying he isn’t certain on his Villa future as his contract runs out next summer, so the Denmark international defender could walk away for nothing on a Bosman along with fellow defender Olof Mellberg and goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen. That is a few cool million pounds worth of talent who could go for nothing. :o(
Laursen says he hasn’t spoken to Martin O’Neill about a new deal yet adding:
‘I don’t want to ask the manager about anything. He or the club can come to me if they are interested in offering me something to try to make me stay. I’m quite happy with the way things are going at Villa, but if they choose not to bother, I’ll look elsewhere.’
‘For some reason, there has been no mention of what happens at the end of the season. January is not far off now and though I will be as focused as ever in games, my agent is looking at the situation. It is getting late and we have to make plans in case Villa don’t come up with something.’
