Villa Didn’t Do A Fulham – Stick That Somewhere Lazy Pundits – Match Stats

With Aston Villa blowing so many golden opportunities to ensure our Premier League survival in the 2019/20 campaign, results kept going our way with an utterly unexpected victory over Arsenal, we took survival to the final day and faced off against West Ham United.

All we had to do if I had the permutations right, was match or better Watford’s final result, but Bournemouth could’ve been an unexpected bogey.

It was a bright start, but then the hosts gained control (without really threatening) and we began sitting way too far back, but Jack really should’ve had us in the lead at the half came to an end.

Watford’s result was going for us, but Bournemouth were making life unnecessarily difficult. Second half was in our hands though, win and nothing else mattered.

We contained the well, it looked likely they wouldn’t even have a shot on target, but we were equally inept up front and again our better chances were wasted – until Jack took his chance with six minutes remaining.

Great celebrations and then West Ham went straight down the other end and with an unlucky deflection, they were instantly back on level terms.

We never do things the easy way do we – but we are Premier League and I think we all deserve the rest of the weekend off to recover.

We didn’t do a Fulham, we now have a core in place with 12 months experience under their belts – dare we dream of next season or should we sober up first?
