VILLA DO NOT SELL BARRY

NOooooooooooo.

The Birmingham Mail are claiming that progressive and ambition Tottenham Hotspur are about to bid for Gareth Barry.

Spurs boss Martin Jol is known to be a long time admirer of our left sided midfielder (and sometimes left back) and wants to take the 24-year-old to White Hart Lane.

In my ever so humble opinion Gareth Barry was the player who kept us up last year with his determination and skill. If we sell him then we really will be putting up the white flag.

O’Leary has recently said that the only players that he won’t consider selling are Barry and Steven Davis, but with a £4million in the offing, his resolve might be severely tested by the mad lust of chairman Doug for cash.

What makes the link even more worrying is that Gareth Barry was a boyhood fan of Spurs.

Barry, who acted as captain several times when Olof Mellberg was injured was voted by team mates as Villa’s Player of the Year.

Barry has two years left on his contract so the menace of B6 is bound to want to cash in, especially with the financial mess he has made of Villa.

Barry, who scored six goals last season, has been known to be upset at the amount of positional changes he has had to do and can’t have missed the total difference between Spurs and Villa with the Spurs board now doing what our lot are incapable of doing, choosing a decent manager and backing him.

I fear Barry will jump at the chance of a move whether O’Leary wants him to stay or not, especially after the left sided midfielder was scandalously ignored by Sven for the English squad.

DOUG. DO NOT SELL BARRY.
