Following on from this article:

Welsh international centre half James Chester has called on Aston Villa to return in peak condition next pre season so we can hit the ground running as we go for promotion back to the Premier League next season. With a slow start to this year added to New Year troubles with results, Chester knows in hindsight that certainly cost us a real effort at promotion at the first time of asking, but with players having at least six months with each other now to bond, he’s looking for far more next season from the first kick off. We certainly need to make an impact from day one, making promotion our only priority.

But we need to get the right players into a squad 3/4 capable of doing better. But as has been speculated in the media, money available for signings is just a mere one million, we’ll need to fully out all the deadwood and shirkers who just don’t do it regularly when in the team for whatever reason that may be.

So in some cases it will come down to being severe by cutting certain regular squad members to make those much needed funds available to build a team that can deliver and is up to the job expected of them…a team to get us back into the Premiership at the next time of asking.

My own feelings are that the goalkeeper situation was no1 on the list, however, reports state that we have Sam back for another season, this to be confirmed in the next few days I should imagine.

I do feel the need for a experienced defender is a must, along with a striker or two maybe who can score goals regularly, something that’s been lacking at times this season, how thankful we have been that Kodjia did the business regularly, but when away or injured we couldn’t score simple as that !!.

So, if we have too obtain funds by whatever means, I’d like us to consider Joe Ledley who we might be able to get from Crystal Palace at a bargain price ? I do feel at the back he’d do a solid job for us, ok not the young marvel we’d like, but I’m sure he would do a good job, at a reasonable cost on the pitch and in the dressing room too, motivating the younger members of the squad.

I also think we should get amongst the mix and do our best to get the likes of Tammy Abraham into a Villa shirt, and a unknown who I personally rate, and I hope SB takes a long hard look at….Troyes striker Adama Niane, who score’s goals regularly for fun and again he’s someone I feel could do a job for us when needed.

Players to go ? Well we don’t know if Kodjia will leave us for pastures new in the Premiership and Scott Hogan needs a good season, so we’ll look forward to him coming good for us, but its all about making funds according to what’s being said through the media right now, so all those out on loan, my feelings are this… we’ve not had them, they didn’t do much for the club when we did, and we have not missed them one bit, so get them gone for as much as possible ( but I hope we don’t give them away as we have done many times in the past !)

My personal list would include all loanees out through this past season and including McCormack & Tshibola & Gollini.

My choice of Current team AVFC players to go, tough but Gardner, Agbonlahor, Bunn, Richards, Elphick, Amavi, Bacuna maybe a couple more ? I`m looking forward to what happens ( like we all are ) in the transfer market, and fingers crossed Villa will get that promotion we all crave next time around.
