With the summer transfer deadline approaching, this week we’ve seen some claims that League One side Sunderland are interested in securing a deal for out of favour midfielder Aaron Tshibola.

The reports seem to come from French outlet Footrdc and whilst there aren’t many details in the piece, they suggest that we’d be looking to do a permanent deal at £3million for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Following his reported £5million arrival under Roberto Di Matteo back in the summer of 2016, he’s only ever made seven starts for us with three additional showings from the bench and he hasn’t really impressed. A spell out on loan at Nottingham Forest was a flop, and although he appeared 12 times, a stint with MK Dons wasn’t much better. He did fare well up in Scotland under former assistant gaffer Steve Clarke, but that spell doesn’t seem to have changed his chances back at B6.

Unsurprisingly, most Villa fans who reacted to this speculation on social media were praying it went through.

Surprisingly, looking around the interweb, it seems Sunderland fans think they might be getting a midfield enforcer?
