Villa Fans Split On Protest Ideas

Oh the joys of protests and split opinions!

I`m been reading loads of the social media and also forum threads in the last week after it has been suggested that all fans walk out of Villa Park v Everton.

See: Aston Villa Fans Asked To Walk Out On 74th Minute.

Protest thread in the forum (more adult language etc) see: Click Here

We asked:

Only for those who attend games. Will you walk out on 74th min?

Poll Date: 22 Feb 2016

No 50%
Yes 43%
Still unsure 7%

Massive disagreements on the social media pages as well, many including myself saying that this should be done when we are mathematically down plus why are they asking for 3 walk outs? From experience of years gone by, it is hard to get fans to do one thing once let alone three times and fans don`t have the money to pay to just walk out all the time do they?

Then there are those who don`t go telling those that do they are the problem and that they should just totally boycott.

Then ideas on pitch invasions (massive fines for any fan caught doing that, it is very different to celebrating on the pitch, please folks, don`t go getting yourself into that sort of trouble) etc etc.

Personally I think attendances will crash once the maths confirm what we all know is going to happen anyway. Bad times.

Some of the comments:

Not sure what they expect this to achieve. This is a man who appointed Alex McLeish!! Just seems like a waste of time, effort and money and doesn’t really have impact on the club?? Liverpool’s owners are completely different. For a start, John Henry does occasionally pitch up to games! They get the link to the fan. Lerner does not, as evidenced by his continuing non-attendance, shocking communication and flawed appointments.

It’s good to see that finally a group of long term and dedicated fans have finally got the balls to do something…. I wish them all success. I personally feel it will need more than one match, because it won’t ‘sink in’ too quickly with these thick skinned idiots we are running our club into the ground. One match is just a token gesture. It makes sense to build up the pressure over a number of games.

You mean I have to stay and watch that rubish until the 74th minute???

It is a point of pride that since starting to follow Villa in 1970 I have never left before the end. If we actually look like winning no-one will want to go. Why not delay going in for the first 15 minutes? Why not gather beforehand on the slope running down from Aston Hall to the Holte End? Several thousand standing on that hill would make an internationally viral photo.

Agreed. Don’t see this as doing anything. Lining his pockets further by buying tickets, then walking out. Why would they care about that? As you previously posted a few days ago; we need to FIGHT for our club. Protests, hundreds, thousands descending on those in power with chants, (boo hoo Fox, body guards can’t stop that). We need to stop giving them £, get in their faces, protest outside Villa Park on Match days, those that do go need to protest loudly in the direction of the board. Once we’re down, f*** the game, what’s Fox going to do? Chuck everyone out? This needs unity from ALL. Not just one or two. We can not be idle, we can not HOPE any longer that things will get better. They won’t. Everyone who loves Villa needs to help SAVE OUR CLUB. My ideas aren’t sound, but we need to organise meetings, discussion groups to form sound ideas. The Trust needs to do more also to discuss way as to how we fans can help. WE CAN NOT sit by and watch our club be destroyed. The Villa we all know and love will be devoid of any pride if we do not act NOW.

I’m not into this at all. I’ve paid my money, I will watch and support the team thank you very much. These protests will achieve absolutely nothing imho, the club has shown time and again that they are not interested and it won’t listen to its ‘customers’. Fox and co will no doubt wave us off, thanking us for the £40 we’ve already handed over.

Instead of walk out stay away. For the match after confirmation of relegation. Then don’t renew your season tickets until Fox and co are sacked. This would really Send the message .

I think personally anything we do as one and together as Villans is a good thing to show our disgust and we am sticking together against the inept clueless owner and board regime we have at Villa.

lol @les51. SO many people are thinking the same I think!

I think 74th minute booing and jeering would work well/better

We are all customers and Sky consumer units. We either buy the product or spend the time and money elsewhere. The only thing about being a Villa customer is that you don’t want to consume the product of another club. The only hope of getting any identity back into the club is having a Jack Walker, Jack Haywood or Peter Coates amongst our midst.
