This summer transfer window rumour was definitely only a matter of time but it seems the big boys have caught up now and linked Aston Villa with a move for Brentford defender Ezri Konsa.

At £12m Surely Aston Villa Should Be In For This 21 y/o Talent

The other day I noticed speculation suggesting that 21-year-old Konsa was available for only £12million and at the time the report linked Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers as having a potential interest in him, but now the Daily Mail seem to have caught on to the fact that the England Under 21 international worked with head coach Dean Smith at Brentford and that must mean we are now planning a ‘swoop’ on the player.

In this case though I certainly hope we are and it’s not typical rumour mill nonsense.

Brentford have of course just brought in Leeds United centre-half Pontus Jansson, and it’s not difficult to see that they may be preparing for life without the youngster, and given everything we’ve heard about our transfer setup now, he ticks every box in my mind and he does offer far better value than Bristol City’s Adam Webster given the price they seem to want.

A later in the day update came from Sky Sports amidst potential medical speculation.
