Villa Get Out Of Jail At The Death But VAR Features Again – Match Stats

Following the end of the October international break, Aston Villa were back in Premier League action this afternoon as we welcomed Brighton and Hove Albion to Villa Park.

With a fantastic victory over Norwich City ahead of the lull, everyone was hoping to see us make it six points from six and register back to back wins and edge ourselves closer towards midtable.

There’s no denying it was a poor game and a poor performance, but the talking points will be refereeing decisions and the Video Assistant Referee technology again ruling out a perfectly good goal.

Having fallen behind though, Jack Grealish did have us back on level terms inside of the first half, but second half, despite Brighton being down to ten men, it was still a struggle again, even if we were largely on top.

Fortunately, we got our breakthrough deep into stoppage time as Matt Targett hit the target to make it 2-1 but there’s a big sense of ‘got out of jail’ after that one really.
