With automatic promotion hopes slipping at Aston Villa following disappointing back to back defeats against Queens Park Rangers and more recently Bolton Wanderers, we go into today’s evening clash with Hull City desperately looking for a win and all three points to give us a boost once more.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media on Friday, Steve Bruce did have one big boost to lift spirits as he revealed that Jonathan Kodjia was now fully fit and ready to return to action.

With it known that Kodjia was back in training, there was hope he would return soon and be able to play some part in our run in, but with Bruce guaranteeing him a place on the bench for today’s match and hinting that he would definitely be called on in the game, few I guess thought he’d be back this quickly.

Steve Bruce gives us his thoughts ahead of Villa’s away trip to Hull City

“He will be involved tomorrow. It’s a big boost to us all. He played 45 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game and has trained well since. He looks in good nick. Just at the right time, it looks as if we might have our big centre-forward available again.”

It’s a huge boost for obvious reasons when it comes to competition up front as we all know the threat he can bring when on his game, so even if he only gets 20 minutes or half an hour today that will bring him on further and get him match sharp as the games now start to run out.

Kodjia wasn’t the only boost on the injury front either as Alan Hutton, Neil Taylor, Axel Tuanzebe and Glenn Whelan are all back – Whelan is the only doubt for Hull as the game may come too quickly for him – but with no issues for players returning from international duty we are in the best place possible for the run in and we need to hit the ground running now to secure third spot if we can’t hope for more.
