Aston Villa’s midfielder Lee Hendrie is being linked to a shock move to Dutch team Ajax. Hendrie has struggled to get a regular berth in the Villa team this year and whenever he has he’s picked up an injury, the latest of which resulted from a shocking tackle by West Bromwich Albion’s Robinson.

Hendrie, who is due a testimonial next season having been at Villa Park for 10 years, has always split the fans in their opinion of him. He’s notched up just seven starts this season, being replaced four times. He has made eight appearances from the bench and has been an unused sub seven times.

Hendrie is quoted in icbrum in an article by Bill Howell as saying: ‘I have had a couple of shouts and one of them is very interesting. But everything is very much up in the air right now.’

He also says he is desperate to return to the team, even if it is to say his goodbyes to the Villa faithful.

‘If I am to leave Villa this summer, it would be very hard – almost impossible – to say goodbye without playing again for the club. So I am just hoping that all goes well in the next few days. I did a bit of running yesterday, and the foot feels fine.’
