31-year-old record signing Juan Pablo Angel looks like he might be moving to pastures new as he looks for talks with Aston Villa over his future.

The Colombian international hit-man says he doesn’t want to spend another season as a bit part player spending most of his time on the bench.

He arrived from River Plate for £9.5million but has had a stop start time of it since. His first season was average but the 2003/4 season saw him scoring 23 goals and forming a promising partnership with the now Manchester City striker Darius Vassell. However the following season was plagued with injuries and he has never really forced his way back into regular contention or scoring form since.

Angel said: ‘We will see what happens. We have to sit down and talk about it. I have made my feeling clear but we will see what happens in the summer. I want to play regular football. I won’t like to have another season like this, being on the bench for most of the season.’

Angel has just two goals this season with just 9 starts being replaced 3 times. He has been on the bench 20 times coming on 18 times.
