Thomas Sorensen is back in action tonight making his first appearance between the posts this season having recovered from a knee injury.

Sorensen, along with Curtis Davies and Stephen O’Halloran, will play in the reserves away game against Portsmouth. Sorensen says he is up for the challenge of getting his No1 place back. Hmmm, little to no chance of that I’d hazard a guess?

Thommo told the official site: ‘I’ve said all along to everyone at Aston Villa that I’m here to fight for my place. I’m well aware of the situation. Scott has done well, but I have to work hard and wait for my chance. That’s been the bottom-line. Obviously from my point of view, the most important thing is playing first-team football, that’s no secret. But I’m not looking to leave the club to do that. That’s never been my intention.’

Villa: Sorensen, Lund, O’Halloran, D.Bellon, Lowry, Davies, Y.Bellon, Hogg, Mikaelsson, Earls, Stieber. Subs: Albrighton, Bevan, Delfouneso, Collins, Clark.

So what do you think of Scott Carson so far and do you think Thommo will have a chance of getting his place back or will he be off on a free at the end of the season?
