Villa Make It Five Wins On The Spin & Move Up A Spot In The Table – Match Stats

It’s been a boring couple of weeks owing to the pointless round of international games but Aston Villa were looking to continue our current winning streak as we welcomed Blackburn Rovers to Villa Park earlier this afternoon.

With four wins on the spin for head coach Dean Smith and some strong performances from the first team again, hopes of securing a Play-Off promotion spot are again live, and three points today would be another massive boost as we seek further improvements.

Tammy Abraham got us underway eight minutes into the game, and just after the hour mark, Tyrone Mings doubled our lead. Blackburn did make it a one goal game with 16 minutes remaining in the tie, and at that point what had been a reasonably comfortable game, turned in their direction.

We held out though to take the three points and the victory and it was nothing more than we deserved really, it just would’ve been nice to get that third goal but you can’t have everything eh!
