Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Harkcombr, who was the man of the match vs Portsmouth?

Former AC Milan defender Martin Laursen won hands down with 65%.

Next up was the flying Dutchman Freddie Bouma, surely the most improved Villa player this season with 10%.

Stiliyan Petrov is starting to impress some and got 7%.

The rest were:

Ashley Young 3%
Gareth Barry 3%
Gabby Agbonlahor 3%

Shaun Maloney 2%
Craig Gardener 2%

Luke Moore 1%
Patrik Berger 1%
Olof Mellberg 1%
Phil Bardsley 1%
Thomas Sorensen 1%

John Carew 0%

Our latest poll asks which ‘fringe’ player would you most like to see Villa KEEP next season

  • Laursen is a giant for us and really takes alot of the pressure off Mellberg. Also, quality outfield player.

  • We should definitely keep Berger. Has changed the game everytime he’s come on of late. Davis and Ridgewell too. And Delaney if ever fit again.

  • Looking at the results so far it seems we are saying keep Delaney, Davis, Berger and Ridge and let the rest go. I’d be more than happy with that outcome!

  • Martin Laursen had to be voted MOM vs Pompey, great performance. Good too see the ever improving Freddie Bouma receiving deserved recognition though. His performances of late have been a revelation.
