Steve Bruce is keen on recruiting Hull City right-back Moses Odubajo on a free transfer, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined for two seasons due to a knee injury, and his contract at the KCOM Stadium expires in the summer.

It is not known whether he will be offered a new deal by the Tigers. He hasn’t played since Bruce picked him to start the Championship playoff final in 2016, but it seems the manager is “monitoring” the player’s situation.

The full-back was fully fit for the last few weeks of the season but wasn’t part of Nigel Adkins first-team plans. He also wasn’t included in the club’s post-season tour of Kenya prompting speculation that he won’t be retained.

Odubajo has had three knee operations since he last played a first-team match, and even though he could be available for nothing, it would still be a risk to sign him.

Bruce is obviously a fan of the player, and if he does depart Hull, the likeliest possibility is he would join us on trial to see whether his injuries haven’t adversely affected him.
