Villa must be selfish and limit potential for blow to derail top six charge

|

Aston Villa kept their run going in the Sky Bet Championship at the weekend with a big win over Middlesbrough at Villa Park.

3-0 it ended to the home side and it was certainly a match to really boost confidence that we are going to make the play-offs, given that we have now moved into the top six.

A bit of news that might threaten that, though, is that we are waiting to see just how injured Tammy Abraham is according to the Birmingham Mail.

It is thought he is a doubt for the Young Lions international game with Poland later this week and whilst England might want to assess him, too, we must be selfish with him.

Of course, I’m all for young players playing at the highest level possible for their countries but it’s not a senior game and Villa must look to lay things on thick.

He’s our best striker and, without him, our top six hopes take a real blow.

I’m not saying lie to England, but I am saying we should really make it clear that forcing him to play with an injury would not be wise at all.

We must put ourselves first here.
