Bit of a hotchpotch today.

Hotchpotch*, don`t even really know what it means if I`m honest.

I feel like this article hasn`t got off to the most intelligent of starts if I`m honest. No change there then.

The Daily Star say that Villa might be looking at £4million rated QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia. He`s 27, practically a pensioner?!

The Daily Mirror claim that Shay Given is in talks with Doncaster Rovers. I`m sure I also saw a link to the now departed Richard Dunne to there, not that I could give a care where Dunne goes really!

The Birmingham Mail say that Villa are not interested in Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda who has been linked several times.

Also in The Birmingham Mail, Gareth Southgate talks about our new transfer policy. He was one of several high profile former players last season saying the team needed some experience to blend with the youth. However, he now says that maybe Villa could lead the way with their new transfer policy.

“There has to be a reality with what can be done. Villa remain a fantastic club historically and the level of support they will get if they get it going again.” Adding, “We`re at a time where there`s more money in the game than ever before and every club is in debt. There`s something not quite right there.”

Bit of paper talk on Gareth Barry being made available. We are amongst a host of clubs mentioned but I can`t see Lambert going for a 32 year old.

Finally, The Daily Star linked us with 27-year-old Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda along with Tottenham and Everton.

*and back to hotchpotch….
