On Wednesday, Aston Villa’s first team returned to Bodymoor Heath for the start of pre-season training having received a bit more time off following the failed Play-Off run in 2017/18.

It must have been an interesting day for the players, not only would they have returned with questions about their own future and whether they’d again get paid at the end of the month, it was no doubt an opportunity to see if any friendly faces on the non-playing staff were still in situ.

One thing is for sure though, with the players back Dr Tony Xia may have broken into another sweat when he thinks about how the electricity bill will now skyrocket. Maybe Steve Round’s unexpected sacking will offset that for a week or two?

The fact there was an emphasis on showing Jack Grealish in the pictures released by the club led some fans to form their own conclusions about how we were spinning the players return in an effort to turn some attention away from our absent, but silent, owner and the **** storm we’re currently dealing with.

At least it proves we’re still trading at the moment though.

  • You won’t see Xia any where near Avfc, like Lerner he’s gone. Bruce is on borrowed time,
Will I miss them, never for what’s transpired.

  • Villa problems stem from poor top management allied to not getting promotion. Steve Bruce is responsible
For picking the Team and getting promotion. He should have been first out the door. That would have saved the first bunch of money.
