Well according to the Daily Mail today, Villa are ‘keeping tabs’ on a trio of defenders. I don’t know about keeping tabs, how about making bids?!?!? No, seriously, I think July will see some good arrivals, I’m not worried at all….. gulp.

Anyway, the report links us with Arsenal’s Philippe Senderos, Portsmouth defender… no, no, not Sol Campbell, none other than Sylvain Distin who has been linked before and claim that we are still looking at the situation for Middlesbrough and England U21 defender David Wheater.

The Senderos link claims we are interested in the out of favour at the Emirates defender who spent last season on loan to AC Milan. AC Milan turned down the chance to buy him. The price quoted is around £5million.

The Switzerland international was born in 1985 and joined Arsenal in 2003. He’s played for the Gunners 64 times in total including sub appearances. Arsenal.com details:

Another snippet, this time in the Express & Star is a link to Villa Borussia Monchengladbach (easy for you to say) USA midfielder Michael Bradley. The 21-year-old has played for the USA national team 33 times and scored 6 goals. Wiki wiki anyone? Click Here

There is also a repeat of yesterday’s Sun rumour that Villa are after £5million rated Espanyol striker Luis Garcia.

Sam Wallace of The Independent repeats the report, albeit missing out Spurs, that Newcastle and former Liverpool/Real Madrid striker Michael Owen is waiting for the call from either Everton or Aston Villa. The report claims Owen would prefer the Toffees but says that Villa are likely to make a ‘highly incentivised’ offer for the 29-year-old.

Sam says The former England striker is an attractive proposition because he can be signed on a short-term deal – possibly even a one-year contract – with the promise of an extra year if he plays a certain number of games. Our Michael Owen thread continues in the forum: Click Here

The Coventry Telegraph claim that Sunderland will do battle with Villa for the signature of Spurs striker Robbie Keane. Can’t see it myself, if Appy Arry didn’t want Keane he’d not have bought him back from Liverpool would he, or am I missing something?!
