Villa Reject New Barry Bid

Well it’s official, Villa have told the Scouse the small collection of hubcaps they offered for Barry is nowhere near enough.

It may well be that we are resigned to losing our influencial captain to Liverpool but it’s good to see that we aren’t rolling over and accepting a silly offer just because he may want away.

In previous years players have moved on for lower than market prices when they’ve wanted to go, but it seems the business end of our club is now sorted and we will only accept an offer that is acceptable to us, and not to the benefit of the player concerned or the buying club.

The latest offer from Liverpool was reportedly in the region of £15 million and it’s rumoured that the club have said £20 million and maybe we’ll deal.

A statement from Villa read:

‘Liverpool’s latest attempt to prise club captain Gareth Barry away from Villa Park has failed.

‘A new bid was received late last night but was rejected.

‘The offer was a slight improvement on a previous bid but our position on the issue remains unchanged and Liverpool have been informed.’

Oh that makes sweet reading!
