The Mail on Sunday has linked us once again with Manchester United’s Wes Brown.

According to the report Martin O’Neill would see the right back as a perfect replacement for Olof Mellberg who leaves for Juventus in the summer.

Wes has been offered what is tantamount to slave labour wages at Manchester United, a poultry £55 000 a week – I mean, come on, who could seriously live on such rubbish money? The 28-year-old is apparently holding out for around £80 000 a week and United have said the offer on the table is their final offer.

Brown is a free agent at the end of the season so despite smashing our wage structure, the paper argues we’d be able to better the United offer and pay him a signing on fee.

Interesting link and one that did surface in the January transfer window. He does have a terrible injury record mind you, although in recent years I think that has improved – what do you all think, good signing or mercenary player?
