With a hard-fought draw against Stoke City, Aston Villa now head into next weekend’s clash with high flying Leeds United.

Both sides have suffered a number of injuries of late, and speaking earlier in the week than I expected to the Official Site, head coach Dean Smith has given an early injury update when it comes to our first team squad.

The good news is that Smith believes he can welcome back Albert Adomah for the tie as he’s been working on building up his fitness again following the knock he took in the Birmingham City match. He only narrowly missed out on Stoke last weekend having returned to the training pitch, and he’ll now step up his work in readiness for the next one.

Mile Jedinak is also expected to return to full training this week.

Birkir Bjarnason and Henri Lansbury have returned to light training now and will be stepping their own work up this week and all three may come into his thoughts on Sunday.

Jack Grealish is the doubt though sadly as he continues to struggle with his shin knock and he’ll no doubt need a late fitness test before a final decision is made on his participation.
