James McArthur is still a transfer target for the club, according to Daily Mail columnist Simon Jones.

The Crystal Palace midfielder is available on a free transfer at the end of the season with his contract nearing its end, and there is no sign he will be offered a new deal by the Eagles.

We are reportedly “showing interest” in recruiting the Scottish international although the report does emphasise any final decisions on signings will be made once the end of season playoffs are over.

Cardiff City and Rangers are also said to be keeping an eye on the 30-year-old’s situation, and will likely be competitors for the midfielder’s signing in the summer.

This season, McArthur has been a regular in Palace’s first team, having scored seven goals and provided one assist in 34 appearances.

He does generally play in the middle of the park, but Eagles boss Roy Hodgson has employed him in roles on both the left and right-hand side this campaign.
