The Word On The Tweet

Villa Signing Isn’t With Us In Body Yet, But He Certainly Is In Spirit

|

Back in the January transfer window one of head coach Dean Smith’s captures for Aston Villa was Frenchman Frederic Guilbert. As part of the permanent deal we loaned him straight back to SM Caen for their battle against relegation in Ligue 1, and 24-year-old Fred hasn’t had much to celebrate in the second half of the campaign.

Caen have I believe rallied far enough in the last month to avoid automatic relegation, but they now face a relegation Play-Off, however, Tuesday evening certainly gave Fred something to smile about as we booked our place in the Championship Play-Off Final.

Watching on as we went through extra time against West Bromwich Albion and then to the dreaded penalties, Jed Steer punctured their hopes by saving twice in the penalty shootout, and it seems our new right back can now dream of possible Premier League football when he finally arrives at the club over the summer.
