Villa skipper Gareth Barry has some wise words following our victory over Chelski yesterday.

The influential midfielder declared: ‘This counts for nothing unless we build on it.’

Adding on the official site, ‘It’s been well documented that we’ve struggled against the top four teams, so it was nice to finally get three points against one of the big boys, especially Chelsea because they’re riding high at the top of the league. Chelsea are as good a team as anyone to beat. Taking it on into the next game is the hardest thing now. Chelsea will be forgotten now, it’s just another three points. We’ve got to think about a tough trip to Manchester City, who are flying as well. We’ve got a few days to think about this great result but then our minds will be on City.’

Shame the internationals have come to get in the way of the head of steam Villa were buidling. Barry also says that Europe has to be the target and the win has given them ‘belief’.

Adding the importance of keeping Martin Laursen fit and ‘The young players know themselves not to get carried away – their feet will be kept on the ground because the manager won’t allow anything else. That’s one defeat in 13 league games – we finished the season strongly. ‘The opening game was a bit disappointing – that was a last minute winner again but hopefully we’ve got a lot to look forward to.’
