Villa Struggle To A Point When It Was Easier To Get 3 At Leeds – Match Stats

It’s been ages since Aston Villa were last in action and we somehow managed to pick up all three points against Southampton in the middle of September, but how was October going to start for head coach Steven Gerrard as we made the trip to Leeds United.

With Boubacar Kamara joining Diego Carlos in the treatment room, there were a few expected changes given the players we had available, but it wasn’t a great start by either side as rare chances fell both ways.

It wasn’t great but we did have the better chances and poor finishing let us down again. Then we lost Augustinsson to what looked like a hamstring injury and, well, you couldn’t help but wonder if it was going to be one of those days again.

It was a bit livelier after the restart, Leeds went down to ten men after a double booking and we hit the woodwork – was this finally going to be a good half with some football as opposed to hoof ball?

It wasn’t great by any stretch, and it wasn’t an entertaining watch but we better dominated and good chances kept coming our way, but we were again very wasteful with them. Given how dire the game was, I doubt anyone has taken positives from that. It really should’ve been an ugly three points with the chances we had but it’s all just so ‘meh’.
