Villa Take A Point From Bogey Brentford – Match Stats

It was back to Villa Park earlier today as Aston Villa looked to build on our start to the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, but we knew it would be tough against newly promoted (and recent bogey side) Brentford.

It was a lively start and quite and open, well matched and level affair and fans were even treated to two quick goals as Brentford took the lead through Ivan Toney seven minutes in, with Emi Buendia capitalising on a Danny Ings assist for the leveller just six minutes later.

Despite occasional chances following for both sides, that was where the scoring ended though so ultimately we took a hard fought, but pretty entertaining, point for our efforts. Their disallowed goal will certainly be a talking point, but Villans will also be happy at seeing Ollie Watkins come off the bench to good effect following his injury, and he could’ve put his former club to the sword with his late efforts.

Four points from nine makes it a steady start as we all know there’s plenty of improvement to come when this side properly gels.

Onto Chelsea.
