Villa Target Wolves Player

Aston Villa have once again been linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ centre back Joleon Lescott. The 23-year-old has long been rumoured as an O’Leary target and assistant manager Roy Aitkin was seen at Molineux on Saturday watch Wolves play Coventry.

The link would make sense with Delaney seemingly unhappy, Laursen a doubt with his long term injury and fellow defenders Jlloyd Samuel and Ulises de la Cruz looking likely to exit, Villa will certainly need to be in the market for a defender or two!

However reports in the Express and Star today suggest that Aitkin wasn’t looking at the defender at all and in fact Villa are interested in 6’4′ striker Carl Cort. They say that Juan Pablo Angel will look to leave in the summer and that O’Leary has already stated he wants a ‘powerful centre forward to play with Milan (Baros)’ Funny because I could have sworn we’d got a large target man in Peter Crouch. Didn’t we sell him for £2million only to see him move to Liverpool FC for £7million?! Just how long are we going to keep wasting money?

I digress!

28-year-old Cort, rated at around £2million, would fit in well at Villa as he’s suffered a frustrating season with injuries! He also had an injury ravaged spell at Newcastle after Sir Bobby Robson paid £7million for him. He did however score 9 goals in 11 games before sitting out 3 months with a bad knee.

It’s all press talk, so who knows?!
