Ashton Villa? Reports in today’s Mirror are claiming that David O’Leary will make a £3million bid for Norwich City’s striker Dean Ashton in the transfer window.

The reserves trip to Manchester United on December 8th has been moved to Thursday February 9th (ko 7pm) due to Villa’s involvement in the FA Youth Cup.

With rumours still strong that Alan Curbishley will move in for Jlloyd Samuel in the transfer window to tempt the defender back to Charlton, Villa are now being linked to Danish defender Michael Gravgaard. The 27 year old left back said: ‘Aston Villa are a good football club like the others,’ the player revealed. ‘If an offer does come, I will think about it.’

Meanwhile, someone has put Jlloyd Samuel up for sale on ebay! See our front page story for more details and join in the poll, ‘should Aston Villa sell Jlloyd Samuel?’

O’Leary has been fined £5000 for ‘abusive and/or insulting words’ directed at Graham Poll after the 1-0 win over Birmingham City. The Villa boss caused yet more controversy by running towards Blues home supporters – to salute his family and the board! O’Leary admitted the charge and the FA charged O’Leary £5000 and warned him over his future conduct.

Silly report number 200066 as the Daily Star suggested O’Leary might put in a ‘cheeky’ £1million bid for James Millner in the transfer window. Yeah, and I’m going to try to buy an Aston Martin for £200.

Berger has his eyes on the weekends trip to Newcastle United having returned yet again to training.

Doug was reported as saying he will sell, but only in the best interests of Aston Villa. The Comer Homes representative Michael Neville, who is said to be fronting their proposed takeover, has assured fans that he has never and will never be involved in a takeover with asset stripping as the aim.

Villa are in talks with Steven Davis to tie the player to a long term contract amidst reports that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to tempt the player to Manchester United. HANDS OFF Fergie!!

Mellberg says that maybe O’Leary criticises him so much because of the expectations that the Villa boss has for him. ‘I feel in the main I have had a good season. I have made one or two mistakes but overall I have been consistent. I know the manager expects a lot of me and for me to be one of the best players out on the pitch in every game. Maybe that is why he sometimes criticises me when I am not so good!’

29-year-old Swansea striker Lee Trundle has been linked to Villa having impressed this season with 17 goals in league one.
