According to rookie defender Liam Ridgewell who scored in the 3-2 defeat to Wigan on Tuesday, Villa will ‘come out fighting again’.

He says the team are desperate to not be associated with the worst ever Premiership points tally. Graham Taylor at the moment has that sad record with 45 points finishing 16th 3 seasons ago. Villa are currently on 39 points and have conceded 50 goals scoring only 39.

The team face bogey team Manchester City at home next Tuesday night, have a visit to Anfield to face Liverpool and end the season with a home tie against premiership whipping boys Sunderland. We never get anything at Anfield, so they need two wins to at least draw level with the 45 points haul and pray that Liverpool have an off day to give us a draw!

Ridgewell says ‘I take that as a personal slight against me because I’ve played most of the season and I don’t want us to finish on our lowest points tally. We’re working on it during the week and I’m sure we’ll come out fighting again.’

Last season Villa achieved a still unimpressive 47-points.

‘We don’t want to be the worst (Villa) team. I don’t want that tag.’

Meanwhile Liam Ridgewell and Gary Cahill will make an appearance at the Villa Village store tomorrow (April 21). They will meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs from 2pm.
