Villa To End Barren Spell

Martin O’Neill says the clash against Watford is simply about ‘winning at all costs’ after 12 games without a win.

My mate Paul is bringing his young son George Barnes who, when asked who he wanted to see Villa play told his dad, ‘I just want to see Villa win’. That’ll do for me!

O’Neill said: ‘It is a big game, it is a game in which we must do everything that we possibly can to get three points from the game. We have to. It is a big game, at home, that now becomes very, very important for us. Even compared to my time at Leicester, this is the longest period I have gone without winning a game and we need to bring this run to an end.’

I love this quote. When at Leicester City he went on a run of 10 games without a win, he said when asked how they got over it:

‘We won some games. Simple as that.’

Classic O’Neill!

Mark Lawrenson says on the BBC site: ‘A home game against Watford is exactly what you want when you have been struggling and this has come at the right time for Villa. The problem for Watford is attracting players of the right sort of quality they need to have any hopes of staying up.’ and predicts 2-0 to the Villa.

Mystic Mug says 3-1 to Villa as Baros reminds fans what he is capable of and also predicts a surprise signing by early next week. He really has been polishing his ball.

I must admit, I’ve a real buzz about this game, can’t wait, for some reason I just think we’ve got a great battle on our hands and the Villa boys will do us proud.
