Villa To Forget Last Season?

Steven Davis has said everyone should ‘forget last season’ and look forward to the next one.

Last seasons Player of the Year award winner told the official site:

‘I think we should just forget about last season. It was disappointing overall, but hopefully we can do better this season.’

In some ways he is right. In other ways, the fans paid good money to go and support the team last season, so maybe from top to bottom at Villa they should all remember last season and do EVERYTHING they possibly can to not put the fans through it again? That said (!!) a positive start from all of us wouldn’t harm, just a shame the first game is against Arsenal really!

He added: ‘I think there’s a good youth set-up here. The players who came through last season – the likes of Gabby (Gabriel Agbonlahor), Craig Gardner and Gary Cahill – are the ones to look out for. They’ll be looking to play a lot more games this year. Last season can only be a benefit for them. The experienced they gained can only be a benefit for them.’

He also says: ‘Obviously we’ve had a good break. Now the hard work starts and we’ll build the fitness back up. Steve McGregor works us hard. He’s got a specific job to do and he knows what he’s doing. So I think the players are happy enough to go along with what he says.’

So can we all put last season behind us and start the new one with the old lions roar?
