According to the News of the World Aston Villa are set to forgo up to £2million and instead put Acorns children’s charity on their shirts next season.

This follows a report in the Birmingham Mail by Bill Howell – who for some reason which is beyond me seems to be fed inside information way before other press, obviously the old boys network still operates at Villa, hopefully that will end soon – who hinted this might be the case.

Great gesture if it is true, would also be lovely to be able to buy the replica shirts without any sponsorships on as well, watching the Villa Youth in the FA Youth Cup earlier this month just illustrated how fantastic the tops look without the writing across them!
