It’s been claimed this week that Aston Villa will have scouts at Wembley Stadium this weekend to cast their eyes over highly rated Charlton Athletic midfielder Joe Aribo.

The 22-year-old attack minded midfielder is expected to be in action when Charlton take to the pitch looking to secure their Play-Off return to the Championship when they face Sunderland this coming Sunday afternoon, and Aribo has had a very good year, making 38 appearances so far, chipping in with ten goals and he actually has four goals in his last five games. I believe he’s also chipped in with five assists.

He’s long been highly rated as he came through their youth ranks and established himself in the first team, and he now boasts 80 starting appearances, with a further 16 substitute showings, and his total goal tally stands at 16.

Aston Villa are simply the latest to be linked with the young lad though as reports have already claimed the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City see him as potentially one for the future, and there have been suggestions of interest from Germany and Portugal, but this for me, is definitely a Dean Smith kind of signing and whatever happens at Wembley for us, we’d be a great opportunity for him to kick on further as opposed to simply disappearing into a Premier League Under 23 squad.

He’s also out of contract this summer so the question is does he want game time or is he happy picking up a cheque?
