The Metro says that Liverpool are negotiating with Villa for a loan move for 28-year-old striker Darren Bent.

This, according to the report, is with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Rodgers has already said he might not have the funds to buy players in January so obviously a loan would suit the Anfield boss.

“If we can get in the quality in the final third we need to support what we have, then there will be enough to keep the team moving forward. But I am not so sure that will happen in January. This year the club wanted to balance the books and see where we are at. There has been big investment in the club and lots of players went out and a few came in during the summer, so we will look to do some business.`

John Percy at The Telegraph says that Bent will know if he has a future at Villa or not tonight when he finds out if he has been excluded from the squad again or not.

They also repeat the Bent to Fulham or Queens Park Rangers links.
