Hogwash of the day goes to The Sun

They claim that Villa won’t offer James Milner a new deal until after the World Cup. Errr… Fabio Capello has banned players from talking contracts during the World Cup so how could Villa offer that? Also, they met with him before he flew off to South Africa and so must have told him then what they were prepared to pay, the meeting involved Randy Lerner and CEO Paul Faulkner so they weren’t exactly low level talks were they!?

They say figures weren’t mentioned and that Manchester City might still sneak in.

The Mirror have one that I’ve been waiting for the press to pick up on today.

They say that Fulham have made a formal approach for Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell.

The paper repeat this lazy stuff that we have a ‘sell to buy’ policy. Don’t all clubs offload players during a transfer window and bring in new ones? There are funds there, MON hasn’t been left stranded with nothing to spend but if you want more midfielders, defenders or even strikers, it is obvious that some fringe players will have to go isn’t it? All clubs, including those at the top do that.

I digress.

The report claims that Fulham have made a bid and that Villa will look to recoup the £3million we paid for him and obviously offload another high wage.

Apparently West Ham and Sunderland are also interested.

Blimey, another they say who is off is Curtis Davies to Spurs. The 25-year-old former West Bromwich Albion player was linked to them before, I guess with the Spurs injury record in defence this makes sense and Davies unless patient, isn’t going to get straight into our team with Collins, Carlos Cueller and Richard Dunne ahead of him in the pecking order.

The report says he’ll go to Spurs later this summer once Spurs have raised some money from the sales of Jermaine Jenas and Robbie Keane two players also linked to Villa.

The Birmingham Mail repeat the link to Sporting Braga defender Evaldo. The 28-year-old Brazilian plays at both left-back and centre-half.
